The variety of fusions
Moving around in front of a fusion object, there are countless abstract images to be discovered between the main motifs. An infinite dance of shape and colours is hidden within each work; the perceived image can change completely if the observer moves even so much as a few inches. There is an almost unlimited potential for discovery. This often makes it difficult to regain a specific sight of an object – to do so, the observer has to re-assume the exact position right down to the millimeter. In other words: These abstract impressions always exist – and yet they are fleeting in nature. The eye of the observer becomes the main instrument of creation. An observer with a trained eye can thus discover a thousand abstract paintings within a fusion object in the space of only a few seconds – a number of images other artists would spend years creating.
Selected visual episodes from Dave's works are now available as high-quality prints. Unusually, Dave picks up the paintbrush for each of these prints and adds the finishing touch to each image by hand – making each of these prints both a view on an existing work as well as a unique piece in and of itself: Pure fusionism!
A few selected examples (pictured before being manually completed by Dave) can be viewed as slideshows to the left of this text.
