Formensch
Dave created "Formensch" in 2005, after being spontaneously inspired during a stay in Thailand. Formensch can be viewed as both an object and a performance.
During the performance, a group of people disappears entirely within the relief of the object. After being briefly touched by the artist, they awake to life again and start to climb out of the image with slow, hypnotic movements and start mixing with the observers. In doing so, they leave behind a completely new artwork with completely new images.
The title of the work is a play on the words "Form" (shape), "formen" (to shape), "Formen" (shapes), and "Mensch" (human). It has so far been exhibited in Athens, Berlin, Basel and Frankfurt.
