On February 16th 2009, media images from the performance "The Fall of Athens", the first major artistic event to be held as part of the fusion journey, went around the world. But on the same day, a second, smaller performance also took place.
Dave's artwork "Formensch" was shown in Athens for the first time as part of the opening ceremony to a unusual event: The creation of the first page of the world's largest book.
This book will measure 28 m by 3,3 m when opened and will travel the world with Dave. Half of it will be filled with his art, the other half with entries by the public. There will be an opportunity for people to write into the book at every major stop along the way.
What Dave wants to create this way is an artistic chronicle of our time. Through the years, this book will continue to grow, reflecting not just the major developments in the world but also the messages, thoughts, dreams, wishes and creativity of people everywhere.
The first page of the book was created with the simplest means possible: The visitors of the event had only paint, their hands and feet and thick markers at their disposal.
Making the first imprints in the book together with Dave was Gregory Kokkoris, patron and owner of the building at Sapfous 6, where the event took place and in which Dave had been creating art for several months.
The second page of the book, shown at the end of the video, is Dave's artistic reply to the first page.
